Colorado unit 40 elk hunting offers an experience all of its own. With an entirely different layout than its neighbor unit 61, it definitely has both pros and cons to hunting here. Broken up by large sections of private land, a less than friendly road system and limited public camping. Hunting can be a little tougher but overall we seem to be harvesting a little better age class bull here. This high desert unit is located right on the Utah border. With big open parks surrounded by pinion and juniper, you will find yourself doing a lot of glassing in this unit so bring your optics. We use trucks and side by sides to move around the unit. We also have an option to ride and camp in a remote part of the unit. (call for more details)Due to the open terrain we ask clients be prepared for shots in the 300-500 yard range. Lodging is a wall tent camp located on private property with all the luxuries needed for comfortable week of hunting including large cots, quality bedrolls, wood and propane heat and no more than two people per 15×18 tent. Meals are also included.
