Success in the Books!

The man, the myth, the ledgend…

Cowboy Craig Neilson joined me for the last few days of the late cow hunt in the Bookcliffs Roadless.

I ment Craig at the trail head while I was on a hunt with another client and we immediately hit it off.

Craig and his boy had put in several days hunting and just weren’t having much luck.

We had been fortunate, tagged out early and had an idea where a herd was.

After a quick discussion we loaded up Craig and headed back in.

One day of riding, a night at camp and we were into them on the second morning.

Congrats Craig!!!

The pleasure was all ours!!!

John’s Utah mountain lion hunt

John has been on the schedule to hunt all winter but work obligations kept getting in the way. This week his schedule cleared and we made a last minute plan.

I’ve had this cat on my radar for a few weeks but have always been a little to far behind him.

With a full night of travel and almost zero sleep. John showed up ready to hunt and lucked into this cat on the first day.

Welcome to our new blog!

ALLOUT Guiding & Outfitting

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to visit our website!

We have recently decided to start a web blog and will be posting here regularly to show you more about our operation, what you can expect when you get here and what we are doing to prepare for your hunt. We take pride in being one of the best in the industry. We want you to be able to follow along and see how we do things so you can rest assured that when you book with us you are making the right decision.

With the Colorado big game draw about to be released we decided to talk about our summer season and what we are doing to prepare for your upcoming hunt with us in unit 61.

Our season begins early in June,  we start placing our game cameras and doing basic scouting for the season. Between myself and my guides we run somewhere between 25-30 cameras on the mountains.. Some stay out all year and just need SD cards and batteries changed others we pull and move around as migration patterns change. Every week we check a certain number of them and keep a rotation going for the entire summer.

As season draws near (late July) I start living on the mountain almost full time, spending my mornings and evenings scouting to see what showed up in our  favorite spots. I also use this time to better explore new areas on the mountain that I would like to know better. During the day I get all of the firewood cut, blinds built and get camp set up for the season.

I will do a post later this summer showing more of camp and what to expect when you arrive.

All full time guides show up 10 days prior to season to begin scouting and helping finish up all the last minute preparations before season starts.

I truly believe going the extra mile in our scouting practices is what has set us apart as being the most successful outfitter in the area. All of our guides take pride in their camera equipment and the quality of optics they use to scout. We hope it shows in the picture and video we are able to provide you. As one of our clients you will receive emails showing you pictures and videos of the animals we are seeing. I will also be adding a lot of this content to our blog spot so keep checking back for updates. I will also do a post on elk camp and what gear to bring, as well as a post on trophy quality in the unit and what to expect while your in the field.

Thank you all for hunting with us!

Please call us any time you have questions.

Here are a few of our last years scouting pictures.

Congrats to Mike on a great Tom!

Started the day with a lion kill fresh from the night before. Not a bad way to start the day.

Progressed to Mike filling his Utah limited entry tag.
